Fundraising
Pre-Authorized Donations
St. George’s offers a pre-authorized donation program for parishioners. This program, the “Electronic Offering Program”, is sponsored by the Diocese of Algoma and is used by a number of Anglican parishes in Ontario and Manitoba.
The Program provides parishioners the convenience of regular electronic donations to St. George’s. It also provide St. George’s with a more even flow of donations and less administrative effort.
Here are the details of the Program:
- Please fill out the Donor Registration/Amendment Form, attach a voided cheque, and put it in the collection plate or take it to the office. A copy of this Form can be printed from the website.
- Print your envelope number to the far right of the “Ref #” line on the Form.
- Your monthly donation will be withdrawn from your financial institution on the 15th of every month.
- As there is only one withdrawal a month, divide your annual Estimate of Giving by 12 to determine your monthly donation. Write it in the space after “Total $”.
- Write the month you wish to start the Program in the (month) space on the Form.
- The costs of the Program, $8 for each set-up and $1.20 per withdrawal, will be paid by the Parish. As the costs of any dishonoured withdrawals are passed onto the Parish, parishioners are encouraged to keep sufficient funds in their accounts and to provide the office a new voided cheque if the financial institution changes.
- The Donor Registration/Amendment Form must be filled out when there is an amendment, suspension or cancellation of the Program. Forms will be included with fall Financial Stewardship activities. There are additional fees to return to the program after a suspension of six months.
- Please continue to make offerings to PWRDF, Easter envelopes, and other activities/events in your current manner.

The Dragon Ladies
We are an informal group of women who like to cook and decorate, and use our skills to help raise money for St. George’s. We have catered luncheons and dinners in the Church Hall – average of 9 a year for the past 10 years. Our membership is a core group plus others who help from time to time.
The Facelifters/Garage Sale Committee
We are a very large group of people from all corners of the parish, who plan and organize an annual spring garage sale in the church, raising money for projects to “facelift” the church as well as providing significant funds for the general running of the church. We take donations of “stuff” and sort it throughout the year, in preparation for the 4 hours that we are open to the public. Our garage sale includes a Bake Sale, a Silent Auction for some of the items of value, and provide a nice lunch for anyone who wants to sit and visit for a bit.
Ernie’s Bookshelves
Ernie Johnson, one of our parish’s most avid readers and advocates of reading, set up a little corner where people can bring paperback books, and take books while leaving a small remittance. After Ernie’s death, his family had some shelves built and the tradition continues. The small amounts of money add up and is used for worthwhile causes.
Special Events
We do fund-raising for special needs that arise, matching an appropriate event to the need.
We have done:
- a concert to raise money for the victims of the 9/11 terrorist bombing.
- numerous music recitals to raise money for church projects.
- sales of African music CDs and crafts to raise money for our partners in Central Buganda.
- Twoonie Lunches targeting specific projects.
- a raffle to raise money for Church School supplies.
