RICK MORGAN

Organist and Director of Music


Rick Morgan, Organist and Director of Music, began at St. George’s in a temporary capacity in April 2005, and was confirmed in the position effective July, 2005. Previously, he was Organist and Choirmaster at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Winnipeg from September 1980 through February 2004. From 1974 to 1980, he sang as a member of the Men and Boys choir at All Saints’ Anglican Church, Winnipeg, under the direction of Donald Hadfield.

Rick studied organ with Barry Anderson (Knox United Church, Winnipeg), and has an ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.

Rick has been a member of the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) for 30 years, and is a member of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (Winnipeg Centre). In 2004, he was Chair and Treasurer for the Winnipeg Organ Festival (national convention of the Royal Canadian College of Organists) and also chaired the 2015 Winnipeg Organ Festival Committee.  He was the National President of the RCCO from 2018-2020.   He has been active within the Diocese of Rupert’s Land, having served on Diocesan Council, and was involved for many years in the Diocese’s bi-annual educational event, Faith Horizons. He was appointed Synod Musician for the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada, which took place in Winnipeg in June 2007.  Rick is also chair of St. George’s Mission and Ministry Committee.

Rick also has a Bachelor of Arts (University of Winnipeg) and Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) (University of Manitoba) degree.

He was employed with the Government of Canada in Winnipeg in various departments until January 2008 and as a consultant with the Canadian International Grains Institute until March 2017.
