OUR WORSHIP

Praise the Lord! How good it is to sing praises to our God! For he is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting. (Psalm 147:1)

St. George’s is committed to:

  • Achieving a high level of reverence, energy, quality and meaning in worship,
  • Maintaining treasured and familiar parish traditions and
  • Discovering new possibilities within them

Weekly Worship

We use various official liturgies of the Anglican Church of Canada. Each Sunday morning there is a service of worship at 10:30.  This 10:30 service is the Eucharist from page 185 of the Book of Alternative Services, and on the fourth Sunday of the month we have Morning Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer, unless the fourth Sunday is a major feast day, in which case we celebrate the Eucharist.  Worship at St. George’s is supported by choral and organ music in the English Cathedral style.  Choral Evensong is sung 4 or 5 times each year at 4PM.

Special Services

Certain services throughout the year have unique and spiritually rewarding features. Our most notable event is the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols held on a Sunday evening before Christmas (most often on Advent 4). Also, at Christmas the children of the Sunday School present a Nativity Pageant. Other special services unclude the penitential service on Ash Wednesday, the washing of feet on Maundy Thursday, the Good Friday liturgy, Ascension Day Eucharist, and Choral Evensong.
