Whenever we have a special speaker or just feel the need for a little fellowship, we ask a few parishioners to make pots of soup or desserts and we all gather to share lunch after a Sunday service. We each donate $3 for as much soup, bread or buns, dessert and coffee or tea as we can eat. It’s an amazing food value for $3 and the visiting and fellowship value is much higher.
Immediately following every Sunday Service we gather to visit and have a drink of coffee, tea or juice. It’s our time to catch up on what each of us is doing and make new friends.
We have events that have become a part of the culture at St. George’s – the Christmas Dinner & Dance, the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and the Maundy Thursday Potluck Supper. We also arrange special events when we feel the need, like the annual dinner with all-you-can-eat spaghetti, salad and garlic toast. We use these events to laugh and sing together, and we find that they help bind us together with a real sense of community.
