Admin Assistant at St. Peter’s Anglican

We are looking for a Parish Administrative Assistant (Part Time)

The Anglican Parish of St. Peter, located at 755 Elm Street in Winnipeg, is a Christian community seeking to love God, grow in faith and serve the world.

The Parish Administrative Assistant reports to the Incumbent, and is responsible to provide administrative services and support to the parish priest and the parish at large, ensuring the day-to-day administrative aspects of the church operations are coordinated and delivered. The Parish Administrative Assistant enhances an efficient, effective, welcoming and respectful parish office.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in office coordination/management, with the ability to coordinate long-term administrative projects,
  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills with ability to work independently,
  • Solid working knowledge of and experience in the use of computer software (e.g., email, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point) coupled with advanced typing skills,
  • Working knowledge of the use of the internet (related knowledge of social media is an asset),
  • Ability to manage and update websites,
  • Strong interpersonal skills including well-developed oral, written, observational and listening communication skills,
  • A mature, nurturing, positive, and collaborative mind set,
  • Ability to display discretion, respect, compassion, and to ensure confidentiality, and
  • Solid experience in nurturing and working with volunteers.

(Appreciation of Christian theology and familiarity with the Anglican faith tradition is beneficial.)

The responsibilities include:

  • Service bulletin preparation,
  • Communication with organizations/individuals and respond to phone and email inquiries, filing, liaising with the diocesan office and other parishes on administrative matters and projects,
  • Web Site maintenance/administration (posting and updating information),
  • Arranging, facilitating and managing building rentals,
  • Recording financial offerings and sending receipts and statements where necessary, communicate with the parish treasurer as required,
  • Regularly updating electronic sign 
  • Coordinating Criminal Record and Abuse Registry checks and arranging for orientation to  diocesan policies as required for parish leaders,
  • Complying with all diocesan policies,
  • Preparing reports, statements, and presentations as needed, and
  • Other related duties as required.
